'Day at the Bay' - Cabbage Tree Bay, Shelly Beach

An Earth Day Celebration

Saturday 24th April

‘A Day at the Bay’ - Earth Day Celebrations focus on Manly’s Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve

An informative and entertaining ‘Earth Day Celebration’ will be hosted by the Manly Environment Centre at Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve (Manly Beach headland to Shelly Beach) from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday 24 April 2010.

The Manly Environment Centre is celebrating the 40th annual Earth Day with ‘A Day at the Bay’  - the main activities located on Shelly Beach with a small number of marine-focused stalls, a giant art banner kids’ activity (a work in progress throughout the day), guided snorkel tours, rock platform walks and marine talks.

Local artists and photographers are invited to set up for the day around Cabbage Tree Bay, providing an opportunity to capture the beauty of the area and its rich biodiversity.

The event will also provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change & Water’s (DECCW) ‘Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve: Draft Fisheries Management (Aquatic Reserve) Regulation 2009 and Implementation Strategy’

Members of the public and community interest groups are being invited by the DECCW to comment in writing on the draft management plan regulation and draft implementation strategy, submissions being considered before the regulation and implementation strategy are finalised in mid-2010.

For further information or to book for free guided snorkel tours, rock platform walks, photography & environmental walks and talks, contact the Manly Environment Centre on 9976 2842 or email:mec@nsw.gov.au.
