From the Manly Beachfront Promenade all the way to South Steyne about 50 exhibitors were on display. In the 'Ocean Lab' a wave machine demonstated how waves impact on our coastline. More than 20 local artists showed their wide range of artwork in the Art Tent featuring Manly's unique environment. Artist Sophie Hoppe constructed her bamboo icosahedrom spheres and kids could create their own cool chalkboard art on surfboards located around the festival site. Visitors participated in a paddle for penguins, made a human sundial on the beach and took part in a rock platform discovery tour. Special guest at the launch of the 2009 Ocean Care Day Festival was ABC Catalyst and Radio National Presenter, Mark Horstman.
As every year the festival was a fun, interactive and all-inclusive community event to raise awareness of the range of environmental issues.
