Manly’s 2013 ‘Bike Life Festival’
The Manly Environment Centre is celebrating NSW Bike Week 2013 (14 - 22 September) with a ‘Bike Life Festival’ from 10.00am – 4.00pm, Sunday, 22 September at Lagoon Park, Manly, east side of Pittwater Road, Queenscliff.
An official launch event for the ‘Bike Life Festival’, hosted by the Mayor of Manly, Jean Hay AM, will get underway from 11.00am (22 September).
The ‘Bike Life Festival’ is a fun, interactive, all-inclusive community event celebrating 112 years of Cycling in Manly.
The fun will begin with a ‘Retro Ride’ leaving from Manly Art Gallery & Museum, on West Esplanade Reserve close to Manly Ferry Wharf at 10.00am – proceeding to the Bike Life Festival.
Dress retro or vintage for this ride. Prizes will be awarded for the ‘Best Dressed’ - adult and child; and ‘Best Dressed Bike’ – adult and child.
A free refreshment voucher will be given to all riders who participate in the Retro Ride, to redeem at the Festival.
Other activities include bike related stall holders; free bike safety inspections and helmet fittings, bike maintenance workshops; artists painting ‘en plein air’; bike games and prizes including Cycling Safety Kits.; live entertainment powered by pedal-power with a highlight of the program - locals Uncle Jed performing – currently in the running of ‘Australia’s Got Talent’; BBQ, coffee, mobile Mexican cantina, and much more.
Two new events! Cyclo-cross competitions will be held for adults and children; bike mechanics compete head to head against novices in a ‘Fix-a-Flat’ Competition – find who is the fastest person to change a flat tyre – final showdown blindfold.
